History

The Association of Cooks of Uzbekistan was founded in December 2008 on the initiative of leading restaurateurs of the city of Tashkent.

The national cuisine of Uzbekistan is distinguished by its uniqueness, diversity of culinary traditions, has deep historical roots, is very popular in many countries of the world, as well as among the guests of the republic as a symbol of oriental hospitality.

During the years of independence, Uzbekistan has done a lot of work to preserve culinary art as a historical heritage and cultural heritage, the necessary organizational and legal conditions have been created for the development of the catering industry, taking into account national and historical traditions and modern trends in food technology. Much attention is paid to the training of young highly skilled chefs and catering professionals. All this contributed to improving the prestige of the national cuisine, its further promotion.

A special role in the popularization and development of the national cuisine belongs to business entities and non-governmental non-profit organizations. Recently, more and more professionals working in catering organizations have become winners and prize-winners of foreign and international culinary contests.

In order to further preserve and popularize the national cuisine of Uzbekistan, prepare international-class chefs, support public initiatives to develop catering organizations, introduce international service standards, and organize, in accordance with modern requirements, a system for raising the professional level of cooks, chefs, confectioners, waiters and others specialties in the field of catering, the Cabinet of Ministers decided:

1. To support the proposal of economic entities and non-state non-profit organizations in the sphere of public catering and hotel industry, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the establishment of the Association of Cooks of Uzbekistan (hereinafter - the Association).

2. Take note that:

a) The Association is established at the constituent assembly of legal entities operating in the field of public catering and hotel industry;

b) subsequently, legal entities can become members of the Association, sharing the goals and objectives of the Association and operating in the catering and hotel industry, manufacturing equipment, products and facilities for the food industry, as well as food;

On the basis of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan of October 10, 2012 No. 289 “On measures to further improve the activities of public catering enterprises and improve the professional level of its employees”, the Association of Cooks of Uzbekistan was reorganized.

Since the foundation of the Association of Cooks of Uzbekistan, comprehensive support has been provided to all catering organizations on training and retraining, providing information and advisory services on the introduction of technological processes of the catering point.

Since 2010, the Association of Cooks of Uzbekistan has been an official member of the World Association of Chefs' Communities, which is a non-political organization of professionals whose goal is to preserve and improve the culinary standards of world cuisine.

This mission is accomplished through training, hands-on training and professional growth of WACS members around the world. Recognized as a reputable catering leader, WACS represents the general opinion on all matters related to the culinary profession.

The site www.chefs.uz is the official page of the Association of Cooks of Uzbekistan and is intended for organizational and informational support to professional chefs and novices in the field of culinary art.
